Badminton a racquet sport
demands excellent fitness. Players require stamina, agility,
strength, speed and precision.
Badminton premiered as a
full medal Olympic sport at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona,
Spain.
Badminton is a popular sport
in Hong Kong and is enjoyed as a casual recreational sport.
Badminton has been a part
of Kowloon Cricket Club since its inception in April 2005. Today
the club boasts of two courts in the multi-sports hall.
KCC Badminton Society was
formed in the year 2005 and now has about 70 members. There is a small annual membership charge to cover part of the
shuttlecock costs.
The KCC Badminton Society
currently runs training practice sessions on Thursday evenings
from 6 pm to 10 pm under the guidance of Coach Liew Nam Win. For
members who are beginners there are practice sessions on Tuesday
& Friday mornings from 7.30 AM to 9.30 AM.
During the year, the Badminton Society holds tournaments which
are organized against various clubs of Hong Kong.
The Badminton Society big
event each year is the Tin 'n' Bottle Championship. This year
it is being hosted on the 25th of June 2011 from 1 PM to 7 PM
.
KCC members who are interested
to join can put their names on the Badminton Society Notice Board
in the Lobby.
KCC also hosts private coaching
programs throughout the year. These are suitable for boys and
girls from the age of 8 years and over.
The coaching timing & fees are available in the KCC magazine.
