Exciting News! An Opportunity to Showcase Creative Talents

We welcome ideas from our membership and Fitness Centre enthusiast to rename the Fitness Centre in the form of a name/design, incorporating The KCC’s own colours. We hope your research and imagination can inspire a name/design that is in keeping with our building and ethos.

If a design is selected from the entries received, the creator will receive a prize and the honour of unveiling the new signage at a small ceremony, the date of which is yet to be decided.

We shall be accepting entries until close of business on Wednesday 15th September 2010.

Rider: Judging of entries will be carried out by representatives of the Proshop – Fitness Sub Committee. If it is deemed that no entry received from membership is appropriate or suitable to represent The KCC Fitness Centre, then no winner will be announced and we shall commence to seek other names/designs from other sources.

All application should be submitted by e-mail to comments@kcc.org.hk

Hong Kong Cancer Fund – “Stride for a Cure” Join the KCC Team

Last November the “KCC Team” raised over HK$163,000 for the Hong Kong Cancer Fund by participating in the annual “Stride for a Cure” walkathon at Tai Tam Country Park.

This year the walk will be held on Sunday 28th November 2010, again at Tai Tam and our intention is to try and beat the sponsorship total we collected last year. Money raised goes towards cancer research.

Initially we need to register our team members who wish to take part in the walk. There is increased interest in doing the walk and raising funds by Club members, many of whom wish to do the walk in memory of friends and relatives who have suffered from the disease and in particular for Laura Trayford.

The number of walkers comprising the KCC Team will be limited to 50, so if you wish to take part please contact Mike Kennedy or add your name to the list of walkers at KCC reception as soon as you can.

This year we will have a dedicated web page so that you, your friends, family and colleagues can donate online as well as through your KCC club account. Please help by investing in the future of Cancer Care.

Ball Pool in the Children's Play Room Closed

Typhoon and Black Rainstorm Notice

If Typhoon Signal No. 3 is hoisted during the Club business hours, the Club will close the swimming pool for safety reasons and preparations will be made around the Club in the event of a Signal No. 8 being hoisted.

If Typhoon Signal No. 8 is hoisted during the Club business hours, the Club will close one hour after the Signal No. 8 is hoisted. The car park will remain open for Members to retrieve their cars.

If Typhoon Signal No. 8 is lowered before 1800hrs the Club will reopen with very limited service. However, if it is lowered after 1800hrs, the Club will remain closed.

If Typhoon Signal No. 8 is lowered between 0700hrs and 1800hrs, the Club will open two hours after Signal No. 8 is lowered and resume with limited operations.

When a Black Rainstorm Warning is in force before 0700hrs, the Club will remain closed until the warning is lowered.

However, if a Black Rainstorm Warning is in force during normal operating hours, the Club will remain open. The pool will be closed.

Very Hot Weather Warning

Members are reminded during the very hot weather warnings that they should take care when participating in sports or outdoor activities and do so at their own risk. Please note the recommendations from the HK Observatory during hot weather warnings.

When engaged in outdoor work or activities, drink plenty of water and avoid over exertion. If not feeling well, take a rest in the shade or cooler place as soon as possible.

Avoid prolonged exposure under sunlight. Loose clothing, suitable hats and UV-absorbing sunglasses can reduce the chance of sunburn by solar ultraviolet radiation.

Swimmers and those taking part in outdoor activities should use a sunscreen lotion of SPF 15 or above, and should re-apply it frequently.
